After Henrik Larsson's Man of the Match winning performance against Aberdeen at the weekend, the "Will he stay or will he go?" question has popped up in many quarters.
Larsson himself has been quoted saying he will not remain at Parkhead after his contract expires at the end of the season. But the Swede has been shown to change his mind in the past.
Several years ago, the word was that he would not sign an extension to his Celtic contract, but his 4 extra years have been his most precious in a Celtic jersey.
Also, after announcing retirement from the Swedish national squad, he made a comeback when Sweden's management team begged for his return due to a shortage of squad. Albeit for only one match, Larsson came out of international retirement.
Henrik Larsson is the fans favourite at Celtic Park. He is in no doubt one of and arguably the best Celtic player in history. Every week the fans are chanting his name, in a bid to keep the Swede at Paradise. I have even seen a guy with "Don't Go" on the top of his number 7 strip!
However, if any man can keep Henrik here, I believe it is Martin O'Neill.
I have heard many rumours suggesting Larsson has bought several properties in Scotland, and his kids are quite settled here. But in the end the decision is going to come down to the man himself. I just hope everyone will get off his back and let him make up his own mind. The guy has worked wonders for this club and should be supported whatever he does.
So what about a send off? Ideally, the situation would be for the King of Kings to bag the winner in the Scottish Cup Final, against the huns in May! Suggestions like a 'yellow day' should definitley be considered, but whatever the club decides to do, I am sure it will be a fitting tribute to a legend!
All together now, "You are my Larsson..!"
