Hibs v Celtic
CIS Insurance Cup Quarter Final
Thursday 18th December 2003
Easter Road
Kick Off 7.30pm, Live on Ch 5
Thursday night sees The Bhoys travel to Easter Road, for the CIS Cup Quarter Finals, a trip to Hampden to face the huns awaits the winners.
If it wasn't for the prospect of an Old Firm Semi-Final, I could see Celtic putting out a similar team as to the one which beat Thistle a couple of weeks back, in the same competition. However, victory means a Hampden showdown with the huns, and then we could be looking at the first trophy of the season.
David Marshall should start in goals, and John Kennedy could also be looking for a start. The game does give O'Neill the chance to rest players lke Larsson and Sutton, Shaun Maloney, Craig Beattie and Jamie Smith will also be well up for the game if selected. With Beattie scoring a hat-trick for the Under 21's this week, he is well in with a chance of a start.
Hibs will be fired up for the game. They are not going anywhere in the league and a cup run would do them no harm. They have a few decent young players who are capable of causing us problems, and we were forced the fight for a 2-1 victory up there earlier this season.
Tickets for the match are still on sale at the Ticket Office, and I recommend that any season ticket holders who would wish to go to the Semi-Final should go and buy a ticket for Thursday night.
Hopefully we'll be hearing the chant of "Bring on the Rangers" late Thursday night, this could be the start of a Treble.
Celtic-Mad Prediction: Hibs 1-3 Celtic
