Motherwell v Celtic
Bank Of Scotland SPL
Sunday 22nd January 2006
Fir Park, Motherwell
Kick Off 2pm, Live On Setanta
Tomorrow we travel to Fir Park, a place which still haunts me after last year's events. Losing the SPL title there on the final day of last season and our return there only a couple of months later to draw 4-4 bring bad, bad memories of Fir Park. Add to that their embarrassment of a support and it's really a horrible place to go.
Celtic are down to the bare bones defensively. Bobo Balde is still away on International duty, Stephen McManus is suspended and Roy Keane has picked up a muscle strain, so it looks like Stan Varga and Adam Virgo will make up the central defensive partnership. Ross Wallace will unfortunatley keep his place at left back and there will be a debut for new signing Mark Wilson on the right.
I don't feel there is any need for panic over the defence. Varga is fairly reliable and Virgo will have a massive point to prove - tomorrow is a big day for him. He played well in the second half at Clyde and should be okay for the game. Let's be honest, our defence can't get much worse, can it?
Going forward is undoubtedly our strong point. If we can keep Motherwell's attacks limited we will win the game, as we have the ability to score goals, and overall, have played better away from home throughout the season.
Tickets are still available from Celtic Park, anyone moaning about never getting offers for games should get up there and take tickets for tomorrow.
Come On The Hoops Prediction: Motherwell 1-3 Celtic
