BBC Sport twist Strachan’s Words to Suit

Last updated : 08 October 2007 By Clydebuilt

When Chick interviewed WGS today on Radio Scotland, Chick mentioned to Gordon that he thought the conditions had contributed to the poor showing of his team and a couple of other hacks present said "is the ball out of shape cause its not rolling true."

At this WGS says "Well done for saying that first Chick, cause that is exactly what I was saying." "However, if I had said it, I'd be been quoted as making excuses." WGS then said, "I don’t want you guys quoting me as saying that cause you said it first Chick." He said in a cheeky tone.

Later that day, this appears on the BBC site

Strachan unhappy with match ball

Celtic manager Gordon Strachan thought his side were hampered by a poor pitch and ball as they hit back to snatch a late win at bottom club Gretna.

"The ball was out of shape and it was a bumpy surface," he told BBC Sport after the dramatic 2-1 victory at Fir Park.

"We tried to play football and it was nearly impossible".

So after Strachan is heard explicitly instructing Chick Young to not quote the St Mirren fans view of the match as his own, the BBC do exactly that!

Well done Chico ya………….

Yours in Celtic
