There is battle going on in Portugal at the moment revolving around the fact that Gil Vicente have been relegated to the second division after they were found guilty of unlawfully registering an amateur player. Gil Vicente with the help of this player finished one place above Beleneses who complained to FIFA.
The current problem arose when Gil Vicente took FIFA to a civil court which is not allowed under FIFA rules and FIFA has said that if the case is not dropped then ALL Portugese teams will be banned from this years competitions and Benfica will be replaced by the next in line club which is AJAX.
A trip to Amsterdam is still a possibility for the hoops fans but the people who have already booked and paid for deals to Portugal will once again be hit hard.
