Board must Take Their Time Says King Kenny

In a break from the norm today, a former son of Celtic actually came out and showed support to the board for the time they are taking to fill the vacant managers spot at Celtic.

Dalglish, who managed the Hoops for a short spell in season 1999-2000 also showed a level of support for the previous occupier of the Parkhead hotseat, and stated that Strachan should hold his head up high for all he achieved whilst at the Club

"He can be proud of the job that he's done at Celtic park," said Dalglish. "He can walk out with his head held high. Anybody that gets that job is going to a fantastic football club, and they've got a right good team left there as well."

Kenny was reluctant to get drawn on the three ring circus that is the furore from the media and certain sections of the support in relation to who may get the job.

"Who knows? We don't know what's going on" Dalglish said. "There are plenty of names getting bandied about. I'm sure they've looked at three or four people, maybe more than that."

Further to that, Kenny was also supportive of the board, communicating that they should take every opportunity available to them in order to get the right man for the job.

"They've got to take time, make their decision; it depends on the guy's availability, the guy's willingness to come up and the compensation if someone's in employment."

On the subject of the credentials required to be considered for the Managers post, King Kenny stated that one over-reaching attribute is essential above all others - the man should have a knowledge of Celtic and what it means to the support.

"Whether experienced or inexperienced is irrelevant in some cases. But they certainly need to know or understand the size of Celtic football club because it's massive."

He added: "They'd better understand what they're getting themselves into. They should have a knowledge of the club and it's importance to millions of supporters. If they don't realise that, then as soon as they walk in the door they soon would."

Yours in Celtic
