Extensions to the contracts of Emilio Izaguirre and Charlie Mulgrew have been agreed that will see them both tied to Parkhead till at least 2015. Izaguirre is still recovering from his fractured ankle suffered against Aberdeen at Pittodrie earlier this month but could not be happier about the new deal and looks forward to returning to action. the left-back said: "This is a great honour for me and something I was very happy to do. Since coming to Celtic I have been given a magnificent welcome and enjoyed my time very much. It was very disappointing to suffer such a serious injury at Aberdeen and again I thank the club and the fans for all the support they have given me. However, I accept that injuries can be part of the game and now my only focus is to get back fit and playing again for Celtic. This is something I want to do as soon as possible and I am already working hard on regaining my fitness. "I hope to re-join my team-mates as soon as possible and again work hard on bringing success to our fans."
Mulgrew returned to the club last year, having started his career with there. He said: "I am thrilled to have extended my contract with the club. I know this might sound like a cliche, but this is the only place I want to play my football. As a Celtic supporter, it has given me enormous pride to pull on the green and white hoops, and that's something I want to do for many years to come. I know that recent results have been very disappointing, and we want to get back to winning ways as soon as possible, starting with tomorrow's game against St Mirren. The support all the players and the management get from our fans is incredible, and we want to reward that in the best way possible, by ensuring that the league title returns to Celtic Park."
