For too long UEFA has bleated on about eradicating certain aspects of the game, but like racism and clubs holding more debt than a small country they have failed to have any conviction in their actions.
The following statement appeared on the UEFA website.
"Following examination of all the evidence, notably the declarations of both the referee and the referees' assessor, as well as the various video footage, it was not established to the panel's satisfaction that the referee had been deceived in taking his decision on the penalty,"
Hmm? So if it was not established that the player had deceived the referee then why did you sanction the player in the first place? What has changed since the first hearing a couple of weeks ago? Certainly none of the video footage has changed, so if that oh-so guilty smile that this cheat has on his face when he realises that the ref has 'fallen' for his little ruse is not enough to convince you that he attempted to deceive the referee then there really is no hope for the future of European football is not in good hands!
