Ex-Hoop Paul Elliott would like to see Celtic install a director of football who has a similar stature to Rangers manager Walter Smith. There is still a delay in announcing who will be manager for the new season as the board consider whether they need to appoint a director of football. Elliott has watched how his friend McCoist has worked as an apprentice under Smith at Ibrox for the last few years before he steps up to the helm at the end of next season. And the former Celtic defender believes working alongside someone of an equivalent calibre would benefit Neil Lennon as he takes his first steps into management. |
