The £1 Million Spaniard failed to impress at Celtic, for two seasons under Martin O'Neill, and was shipped out on loan to his former club, Livingston, who paid his wages for that period.
Now though, with Livingston taking dramatic pay cuts, Fernandez, along with 10 other top earners at the club, has been released.
Hopefully, Fernandez will be an improved player at Celtic, as his form at Livvy in the last couple of months has been good. Some players however, just aren't able to make the step-up to a club like Celtic, they simply cannot take the pressure.
Time will certainly tell.
