Dutch giants Feyenoord are the visitors to Celtic Park tomorrow night, in a benefit match for Celtic's (and Scotland's) Greatest Eleven, the Lisbon Lions. Unfortunatley, Celtic have been forced to allow pay at the gate sales of tickets, after only selling around 15,000 tickets on the eve of the game. This is due to the price of tickets, £15 for adults and £7 for concessions. It is an average price for these kind of games, you might say, but when considering the other costs of this time of the year, Celtic should have cut the price. I am referring to games like St Mirren in the Scottish Cup, Stuttgart home and away in the UEFA Cup, and Dundee Utd in the CIS. Still, hopefully the pay at the gate system brings a good crowd to the game.
Celtic will most probably play a second rate side, as will Feyenoord, who are minus former Celt Pierre van Hooijdonk, who's two superb free kicks parped the huns out of Europe last year! Still, it is a chance for the supporters to see some of the youngsters who are on the books at Celtic Park, and a chance for younger supporters to get a chance of watching the Hoops.
With all the proceeds going to the pockets of the Lisbon Lions, it would be nice to see a decent crowd turn up, for what should be a decent game.
Celtc-mad Prediction: Celtic 2-1 Feyenoord (Maloney, Smith)
