Hartson was not kept in the loop about his contract and move to West Brom and was shellshocked when he was told that he was sold, The player had been asked about his intentions a few weeks ago and had re-iterated to Celtic his desire to stay and the fact that he had retired from International football to allow him the extra time he needed with his family and allow himself to fully concentrate on playing for Celtic.
The decision to sell Hartson is a business decision by Celtic and players nowadays are seen as items on a stocklist. We do not know at this time what Strachan's plans are for the team and we may in time find out that the selling of Hartson was the best thing to do to strengthen the team for this seasons champions league. What we do know is Celtic have not handled his departure with respect and it seems that the values of Celtic are becoming eroded.
