The news that Aiden McGeady will have to sit in the stands for a one-match ban was treated with the contempt it deserves until it was revealed that he could miss the Derby match on the 2nd January.
Every single newsroom in the country "understands" that for some strange reason Aiden McGeady will miss a game that is a fortnight away? I have yet to see an explanation of why he is to miss a game in two weeks time rather than any one of the THREE games that we will take part in between now and New Year?
Since none of the papers seem to be aware as to why this strange suspension will occur can anyone then tell me how Walter Smith knew to rest the only player who was close to a 6th booking in his team for the match v Hearts? Hmm
The closest we come to an explanation regarding this farce is in the Times which reports "The SFA cannot process the booking until they receive the referee’s report from Alan Freeland."
I was sure that referees had a relatively short timescale to hand in their reports of matches? I.e. Monday morning or Tuesday for reports relating to a Sunday Match?
