Celtic's defeat today in Yokohama does not mean anything in the great scheme that is the SPL. We had a terrible pre season yet still turned in a great performance when it counted against Kilmarnock so its probably fair to say that these games dont really mean an awful lot.
However todays defeat in Japan will cost Celtic a LOT of money in lost revenue. In Japan and nobody want wants to buy shirts and merchandise of what looks to be a serious squad of losers.
Celtic's trip to Japan was billed as a moneyspinner but the inept performance of the team today has backfired bigtime and corporate sponsors and Japanese sports retailers are switching their interest to teams who can win and who at least try to entertain.
Although Celtic had a strong second string over in Japan they looked disinterested and the comments from the players before they went hinted that the team were going for a training game. Training games and lack of effort dont help sell the club and certainly wont make the Celtic mad members of the Tokyo CSC hold their heads up high..
Did Celtic make a backside of the Japan trip? Is it a good training excercise and worthwhile? our messageboards are open Hail Hail
