Lee Naylor has never repeated the form he showed in his debut season for Celtic but the former Wolves player thinks he's still up to the standard required of a Celtic defender. It's true that his game, though still far from perfect, has been much improved in recent weeks but there's still a long, long way to go before he'll lose the nickname 'Fuxache Naylor' despite what Lee himself thinks.
"I think I haven't been doing what I can, but still I think I've been doing good enough to play every week," Naylor said. "You've just got to keep trying and you've got to be mentally strong and when you do get knocks you've got to be strong enough to come back. I think I've had that all through my career and left-backs have come in and not quite made the grade. I'm always confident in my ability, always confident that if anyone does come in that I'll be the best. So I've always had that confidence."
There's no natural left back breathing down his neck, much to the chagrin of the Celtic support, but Naylor is pushing himself on and in truth he's been looking as confident as he sounds lately. He's also confident that the team will use Sunday's 0-0 draw with the Huns to push on to four-in-a-row "It's suited us better but at the same time we went out for the win," he said of the result. "After our first-half performance we maybe deserved the win. We haven't been playing the best recently and you can see that. It was important for us to get a good result against Rangers and hopefully now we can kick on from there and go and gain confidence and hopefully go on a run of games from now until the end of the season."
