Millergate: Lawwell vilified as Miller Exits

Last updated : 03 September 2007 By Clydebuilt

Kenny Miller has today hit out at Peter Lawwell over his transfer to Premiership strugglers Derby. Kenny said "I do feel the way Peter handled things towards the end of my time at Celtic was out of order," said Miller. "He said things, perhaps to scare me into moving, which didn't have to be said.

"Some of them were quite insulting. I just feel there was no need to go down that road and he could have handled things in a different way.

"He didn't have to get personal, he didn't have to throw the toys out of the pram because he wasn't getting his own way.

"At the end of the day, it could have been sorted out in a much more amicable manner.

"Instead he tried to make my decision for me and force me out because it suited him."

So if Kenny is to be believed, Peter Lawwell used every trick in the book to get a player out of the club who, whilst starting to hit a vein of form, was out scored last season by a defender! This is the player whose blistering pace only allows him to keep possession after his terrible first touch takes the ball away from him!

One gets the feeling that maybe all Lawwell did was be starkly honest with Miller!

Well done Peter I say!

The reaction to this news is somewhat perplexing however, with many understandably concerned at the possibility that this player was sold out from under Strachan’s feet but lets put this into perspective here, this is not Artur Boruc we have sold, it is KENNY MISSER!

We have made a 3M profit on a player that has been an abject failure in the hoops FFS!

Speaking of Artur Boruc, Gordon Strachan has spoken of the importance of having the Polish stopper in his team. Strachan said: "Artur is up there with Roy Keane, Kenny Dalglish and Graeme Souness for strength of personality. Every time I look at him I think 'thank God you're here'.

"It was certainly worth the journey to see him, even though I will never forget what I went through to see him play. We were being driven across dodgy roads at well over 100mph and I was being thrown from side to side in the back of the car. My hip was killing me and I was in agony, but it was worth the bother."

It certainly was Gordon!

Yours in Celtic
