Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni will not be taking on a role at Celtic Park. The Italian is sticking with the Republic and taking them as far as possible in the EURO2012 competition. The former Italy and Juventus manager has been linked with an mentoring role at Parkhead as Celtic prepare to make an announcement over their managerial vacancy. Neil Lennon remains the runaway favourite to get the job and he has said he would be willing to work with a more experienced man to get Celtic back on track. An elder statesman in post would deal with Lennon's lack of managerial experience. But Trapattoni insists he is committed to leading the Republic to EURO2012 after their World Cup hopes ended in controversial circumstances against France last year. |
