Celtic will travel to Madrid tomorrow after UEFA ruled in their favour this afternoon. Europe's governing body threw out FC Sion's appeal after a hearing in Nyon.
This hearing now leaves the Swiss club with only one more option and that is to take their case to the Court of Arbritation for Sport but with the opening match taking place on thursday time is crucial.
The appeal came after a Swiss court ruled that the Swiss cup winners should be allowed back into the competition but UEFA have stood their ground on this matter from day one, stating that Sion had clearly broken their rules with regard to transfers.
Controversial club chairman Christian Constantin now has ten days to launch any further appeals but in the meantime the attention now turns to Madrid for the hoops.
Celtic spoke of their delight at the news this afternoon saying they were 'pleased' with the decision.
