Reports tonight have suggested that Chris Sutton will leave Celtic in the next 24 hours, with Birmingham City his likely destination.
Sutton, 32, whose contract expires in the summer, has apparently turned down Celtic's offer of a year's extension on lesser wages. His agent said today that there was huge interest in the striker, with Portsmouth, Everton and Birmingam said to be the three main interested parties.
Sutton is rumoured to be picking up around £30,000 per week at Celtic, and it wouldn't be too bad an idea to get him off the wage bill. With his contract up in the summer, it is unlikely we will receive much of a transfer fee for him, but his departure would free up a lot of wage space.
Chris Sutton will leave Celtic Park as one of the best signings of the last five years, and as a Celtic Legend. I wish him all the best in the future, and thank him for his services.
