Celtic-Mad and the CSA have had a close relationship over the years and would like everyone to be aware of the Brother Walfrid Wells Project which the CSA are helping to conduct, please read below and visit the CSA website at http://www.celticsupporterassoc.co.uk find out more details about this very worthy cause.

SOCIETY OF AFRICAN MISSIONS (SMA)

One major item that shows itself in the CSA accounts over the past 60 years is underlined with the words:
DONATIONS TO CHARITY.
Over the decades the CSA members have contributed annually to various organisations and worthy causes.

Initially in 1947 help was given to Ex-Servicemen from Erskine Hospital this was followed with the introduction of a fund set aside to inaugurate theJohn Thomson Memorial Trophy, organised by the SVDP for the Catholic Boys' Guild in the Lanarkshire area and at present the Glasgow Amateur Youth Football Association have annual donations released to them. This year donations have been passed to Lourdes Pilgrimage Groups from both Glasgow and Lanarkshire and various other donations have also been made.

In January 2007 it was agreed by the CSA delegates that an on going charitable legacy would be made to the poor in Africa with a specific theme "Supply of clean water" and the CSA have made an original donation and set up a monthly direct debit for this purpose, and that construction of a Well will cost approximately £250.

The fund has been dedicated to Celtic's founder Brother Walfrid. Initially it will be used for digging of wells "Walfrid Wells" and boreholes to give clean water supplies to villages in Nigeria. This will be organised with the help of Fr. Willie Brandon SMA and
Bishop John Moore, both of Bauchi diocese in the north of Nigeria. Our local contact is Fr. P.N. McGuire sma, SMA Fathers, Dunblane, Perthshire, and the CSA will receive updates on the projects.
