Georgios Samaras has issued a battle cry ahead of next Saturday's derby game at the Death Star by insisting that he can score goals in any environment against any team. Samaras insists that he has a cool head under pressure and that if chosen, he will relish the trip to Mordor.
Speaking after yesterday's win against Gretna the Greek Hitman said "It doesn't matter whether it's Gretna, Rangers of Barcelona I think I can score in all games,"
"I'm not afraid of these games and don't fell pressure. I will just enjoy it," the 23-year-old added.
Gordon Strachan has so far been loyal to the striking partnership of JVH and skippy but with the latter having to endure a long flight to China to play for the Socceroo's McDonald may find that exhaustion from both the trip and playing at high altitude may see him sitting out at Ibrox on Saturday, and if anyone can fill in I have faith in Samaras to do a job against the OAP and Ugly Betty on Saturday.
Samaras is staying mum on his chances of a starting berth, "It's up to the gaffer and he will decide if I play against Rangers," he said.
"I am happy to be helping Celtic but I always try to push myself to score more goals," he said.
"I am always asking more from myself. I feel okay at the moment but in the future I want a bit more."
So do we Georgios, less love heart signals to the fans and more of the same on the pitch please. We appreciate your love but we have been stung by too many badge-kissers in the past to be lured into a false sense of security with those antics. Show your love on the pitch, preferably by firing a couple past the Govan Gigolo next Saturday!
In other news today the official site is reporting today that former Celt John Cushley has passed away. John passed quietly in the early hours of this morning after struggling for years with Motor Neurone Disease.
John was a Centre Half in the Sixties who left the club in 1967. He was also a Modern Languages graduate and he famously interpreted when Jimmy McGrory audaciously attempted to sign Alfredo Di Stefano from Real Madrid.
Our thoughts are with his with Mary and his family and friends.
RIP John, You will never walk alone.
Yours in Celtic
