Weekly Review

As we look forward to one of the biggest weeks in Celtic's history, there have been many happenings in the week past.

Wednesday night saw the Hoops beat Dundee 6-2. Two goals each from Shaun Maloney and Alan Thompson were added to by Johan Mjallby and Henrik Larsson on a night which put Celtic back on top of the SPL.

The new Celtic home kit for 2003 - 2005 was also released on Wednesday, and sales have been record breaking. Fans heading for Seville have been queing up and down the streets to purchase one of the new tops - around 50,000 have been sold so far.

On the injury front, the news that John Hartson will miss the UEFA Cup Final this week is terrible news for all. Big Bad John has scored some priceless goals for Celtic this season, and we wouldn't be in Seville without him. Best Wishes to the Big Man, who I'm sure will be back in action soon. Rab Douglas is set to be fit for Seville, and we are more or less at full strength.

Thousands of Bhoys and Ghirls will head for Sunny Spain this week, to watch Celtic's biggest game in over 30 years. For the players, games don't come much bigger than this, and for the fans, parties don't come more mad than this! Around 50,000 Celtic fans are estimated to be travelling to Seville, for what is going to be the biggest Fiesta Spain has ever seen. No matter what the result, the fans should be proud of the players, who have given us great memories this season. Remember the lyric - "We don't care if we win lose or draw!"

FC Porto are going to be a class act. They will be fast, tricky and skillful. If Celtic can get an early goal and the fans get behind the team, anything can happen. Over 90 minutes, I am sure the Bhoys can do it!

On returning from Seville, Celtic play Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Sunday. With the Sons of William beating the Cousins of William yesterday, the huns are top of the league by +1 goal difference. They play Dunfermline at Castle Greyskull on Sunday, so if both teams win, the title will be decided on who can score the most goals. I believe that with a bit of luck, Celtic can do it. We have already shown this season that if we need goals, we will get them.

But first things first, and we're all off to Sunny Spain! Enjoy yourselves Celts, and remember to spare a wee thought for our friends in Govan, who aren't as fortunate as some of us!

Viva Espana!
