It's been another happy week for Celtic fans!
Victories over Anderlecht on Wednesday night, and payback for Dunfermline on Saturday, showed Celtic's class in domestic and European matches at Celtic Park. It was nice to see the huns getting gubbed as well!
Anderlecht strolled into Paradise on Wednesday, and must have got the fright of their lives. I doubt the Belgians have ever experienced anything like the atmosphere prior to the match, as well as during it. Their fear of the crowd showed on the park.
Once again, Liam Miller was the man of the moment. He was terrific from the first minute, until his slight bit of cramp forced him off. The standing ovation he received was something special, Celtic must do all they can to hold on to this kid.
Anderlecht were stunned to be getting beat 3-0 at half time, and a lucky goal was pulled back by them in the second half. Bayern Munich losing to Lyon blows the group wide open, and we can now see ourselves through to the next stage if we beat Bayern at Celtic Park in 2 weeks.
Dunfermline used their usual 11 men behind the ball and bore everybody tactics, and it was sort of working for a while. Only losing 1-0 up until around 70 minutes, it was time for another youngster to be introduced. Ross Wallace took centre stage, creating two and scoring one of Celtic's final flourish of 4 goals.
It was nice to send Dunfermline home with nothing but -5 goals on their goal difference, something which we should be doing to every team who visit Parkhead.
With Liam Miller, Shaun Maloney, Craig Beattie and Ross Wallace all attempting to break into the Celtic first team, we are looking good for the future, if we can hold onto these boys. All this without a multi-million pound training facility!
It's a free week for Celtic, with Scotland facing Holland on Saturday in the play-offs for Euro 2004. Good luck to Scotland, let's hope Dick Advocaat will be leaving Hampden with another gubbing!
