The news that Mick Manus is to be named Captain is for me like having all my Christmas's rolled into one! It means First and foremost that we have a good strong leader on the park who has proven that he has all the qualities to be an able Captain of our team.
Not only that, it means that a certain other central defender who has a beard will not become the new captain, and furthermore play in every game! Plus with McManus due to start every game in his new role that is one position that the bearded one cannot play in! (To all you lurking Orcs, these opinions are borne not from Pressley's lack of 'Celtic Minded' credentials but from the fact that he is pish! Ps STAND UP FOR THE CHAMPIONS)
McManus is also the recipient of a brand spanking new and improved deal at Celtic Park. Speaking exclusively to the Celtic website, McManus said: "I'm absolutely delighted to have signed this new deal at Celtic.
"I've come through the ranks here at the club and am proud to have played a part in the success we've had these past few seasons. Hopefully that will continue in the years to come, both in Scotland and in European competition as well."
McManus continued: "To be given the captaincy of Celtic is a tremendous honour and it is undoubtedly one of the highlights of my career so far.
"I'm proud to follow in the footsteps of so many great Celtic captains from the past and I hope that I will be able to achieve as much success as they have over the years."
