There have been a few issues that have been detracting away from the football in recent days. Between allegations of the unacceptable conduct of the away support in Barcelona to the increasingly bizarre Robson-gate and the visit of the unannounced Trinidadians we have had our fair share of distractions.
Lets face it many of these distractions have taken attention from the job in hand, and that is going to Ibrox and getting a result. Once the dust has settled from the game we may get answers as to why Barry Robson was sent home, and once Uefa has finished their investigation and the Celtic support are cleared of 'so called' sectarian singing and charged with the more apt 'unacceptable conduct' but this does not detract from the job in hand. Gary Caldwell said that Celtic are "nine games away from glory", but we could also be one game away from defeat.
Put simply, Celtic must avoid defeat at all costs today, a six point gap with a game in hand would be insurmountable for most teams and I don't think that this Celtic squad will be any different.
Having said that though I for one am both confident and hopeful that Celtic can get a result today. Both teams have been floundering recently in terms of form, but I feel Celtic, as underdogs, have the edge.
Every pundit has written off this team again and again this season, and with the ire that has been inspired by Robson-gate added to the negative headlines that we have been getting all season could lift us to give that extra yard, to run that extra mile and to tackle that bit harder. And if there was one player to automatically start today it has to be Barry "I have now got so much to prove" Robson.
So come on Gordon and the Bhoys, get stuck in, treat every 50-50 as yours, win your individual battles, support your team mates both in and without possession and get stuck right into these impostors who are sitting at the top of OUR table.
Yours in Celtic
