Celtic 5-1 Livingston

A Henrik Larsson hat-trick, along with a goal each from Shaun Maloney and Alan Thompson, gave Celtic a 5-1 victory over Livingston at Parkhead today.

In a match in which Celtic could have scored 10, Livingston's negative defensive tactics got laughed at by the Celtic team.

Shaun Maloney was brought down in the box after 19 minutes, after restoring his place in the starting line-up. John Hartson wasn't doomed fully match fit and was on the bench for the start of the game.

All things were not so happy though, when Alan Thompson missed the penalty.

Thommo made amense though on 25 minutes, when his inch-perfect cross was headed home by Henrik Larsson, in a Seville like way.

Shaun Maloney doubled the lead, shortly after Stan Petrov struck the crossbar, and it was 2-0 Celtic at half time.

After the break, it was clear that we probably will not see a more one-sided game this whole season.

Henrik Larsson added to his first half goal with another header, on 57 minutes, and it was clear that the King of Kings was hungry for more.

Henrik grabbed his third with around 10 minutes to go, with a sweet drive from 25 yards out, which left Livvy 'keeper Alan Main with no chance. It was the touch of genius we had been waiting for all day.

Livingston grabbed a consolation goal shortly before full time, when Magnus Hedman seemed to look rather dodgy at Livingston's first attck at goal in the whole game. We need to feel confident in our goalkeeper and Magnus Hedman certainly does not fill the Celtic support with confidence. I hate to say it but Rab Douglas is proving himself to be the first choice Celtic goalkeeper.

Alan Thompson topped the day off with a beautiful free kick in the last couple of minutes - making up for his earlier penalty miss.

Celtic now have two weeks without any competitive matches, a time to recharge the batteries before the Germans come knocking.

Celtic:
Hedman - 6
Balde - 8
Varga - 8
McNamara - 7 (Crainey) - 6
Miller - 8
Petrov - 8 (Hartson) - 7
Thompson - 7
Agathe - 6 (Sylla) - 6
Lennon - 6
Larsson - 9
Maloney - 7
