Rangers 0-1 Celtic

A fine display by Celtic ended in a 1-0 victory for Martin O'Neill's men - sending us to the top of the SPL.

Celtic showed Rangers up on their own ground, and it was the Hoops' faithful who were singing 'We Shall not Be Moved' at the end of the game!

Martin O'Neill dealt with Bobo Balde's suspension by dropping Chris Sutton into defence and introducing Liam Miller to his first Old Firm game in midfield.

From the beginning of the game it was clear that Celtic were the hungrier of the two sides, and it took Celtic only 11 minutes for our first goalscoring chance. After Larsson skinned Craig Moore on the right-hand side, he passed it through to Alan Thompson in the middle of the 18 yard box. Thompson looked up and only saw an empty net, as he tried to side foot the ball home Stefan Klos emerged with a good save.

The next two chances fell to Stan Petrov and Rangers' Emerson - Petrov's shot was well held onto by Klos but Emerson's drive went wildly over the bar - making a mockery of the Rangers banner which claimed him to be "Asonishingly brilliant."

On 24 minutes, Alan Thompson was taken off injured, to be replaced by the reliable Michael Gray.

Celtic were almost a goal up before half time, John Hartson's sweetly struck shot produced a magnificent save from Stefan Klos, to keep the sides locked at 1-1 at half time.

Directly from the restart, Celtic attacked the Rangers goal, and after only 18 seconds were in the lead.

A Jackie McNamara cross was won by John Hartson, who passed the ball to Larsson. The King's return pass was chipped back by Hartson, in what looked like a cross-come shot, and a deflection from Rangers defender Khinzanishvilli took the ball off the crossbar and into the net.

The Celtic support went wild behind the goal, as the bigots of the 'Blue Order' were forced to sit down.

It should have ended up 3-0 to Celtic, both Larsson and Petrov threw away good chances to add to the scoreline, but Celtic's defending was top class, and we were by far the better side.

Lovenkrands dived at every opportunity - when are referees going to become wise to this chancer? He is a cheat and should be found out. players like Emerson and Arteta are not suited for Old Firm games, they may look good against Dunfermline at Ibrox but that's about it.

We showed today that we are the finest team in Scotland, with a bit of consistency we will still be that at the end of the season.

By the end of the game, the Rangers flute music was drowned out by the singing of the jubilant Celtic support.  All together now, "Tell all the huns you know..."
